  1. Hopefully the post holiday surge will not be as bad as feared. The vaccine does allow us to see light at the end of the tunnel. Got my first dose (Moderna)last week. Sore arm and a slight headache but no big deal

  2. From my observation point down here, there were tens of thousands of New Year’s Day revelers. Number should be gross this weekend.

  3. positivity rate is already starting to increase in Will county- region 7.

Thankfully the county health department is allowing indoor buffets at pizza joints.

The county health department system is broken, and needs to be fixed.

  4. Region 1’s numbers have been up since Christmas, which leads me to believe that there was a lot of get-togethers before and during Christmas.

Too bad, since I thought there was some hope with the Thanksgiving season not being too bad.

  5. there is a big concern that the more contagious new strain is what may be causing the large spike in the UK and perhaps in California. That Cali spike is nearly vertical on the graphs, for new cases, hospitalizations, and deaths. It looks very dire.

  6. Anecdotally, it appeared to me that many who were willing to forego travel and gatherings over Thanksgiving were not willing to also forego Christmas travel and gatherings. The statewide case positivity rate a week ago sat around 6.8%, a week later we’re at 8.6%. None of this is a good omen with the full effects of holiday gatherings yet to fully hit us.
