  2. Hope everyone has a merry, disease-free Christmas and holiday. Here’s a bit of good news to end the year:
A new dispensary location has opened in Sauget, in the metro-east. It’s about 10 minutes from downtown St. Louis. Maybe 5 minutes by boat. Here’s to hoping that it takes several years for Missouri to go recreational. Thank you, Missourians!
    Here’s the map location:

  3. Regarding the map above, the location is pinned on the bottom, right of the map. It’s 1401 Mississippi Ave.

  4. Heading north to see my folks up in Wisconsin. We all have been isolating for the past month and testing negative for Covid in the last couple days. Excited to (poorly) play some John Prine and put 2020 behind us.

  5. Keeping it real low key these holidays and not gathering with many people, having more hope that next year will be so much better with vaccines.

Is the Bears’ mini winning streak fool’s gold or do they keep Trubisky and try to build an offense around his strengths, like mobility? Bears football is one of Illinois’ treasures. Would love to see the team become like the Packers, competitive every year. Was at a game they won not too long ago, it was a blast.

  6. Southern-

I’m in my early 50’s, if MO goes recreational in my lifetime I’d be very surprised.
However, there’s a bar every three feet in St. Louis, so, there’s that.

  7. Illinois is leading the country in vaccines administered. Kudos to everyone involved in the rollout.

  8. Much like Thanksgiving…food and Zoom, only this time with presents.

Comment by Skeptic Tuesday, Dec 22, 20 @ 9:21 am

  9. Picking up a brand spanking new bernedoodle puppy tomorrow. Smoking a bison brisket on Christmas.

Praying for my parents who have Covid. Dad is doing pretty poorly. They are 5-6 hours away in a nursing home. We aren’t allowed to be inside to see them and they don’t feel like talking on the phone.

Such is life, highs and lows at the same time.

Merry Christmas to all of you.

  10. Congress passed the combined COVID relief/Fiscal Year 2021 appropriations bill late yesterday and overnight. Like most days after bills like this, now we have to figure out what’s in the bill. While $10M for Pakistan gender identification is making headlines, was the Hyde Amendment language removed? Can’t find it, so wonder if anyone else has found it in the 5500 plus pages.

Comment by John Lopez Tuesday, Dec 22, 20 @ 9:35 am

  11. My lasy friend and I will be going at it solo this year. We are attempting to make a beef Wellington. I hope it works out.

Comment by Bothanspy Tuesday, Dec 22, 20 @ 9:47 am

  12. We’ll be staying home more than usual, my wife’s clinic (vet) has some really stupid customers who don’t seem to want to utilize curbside just because their spouse has COVID. Sat we’ll have a picnic lunch on the patio at the Grands to exchange gifts.

  13. Food, Zoom, Food, Zoom. and maybe more.

  14. We rescheduled the family Christmas celebration to July, 2021 to be held outside on our deck. This week the hubs and I will stay at home by ourselves, watch Christmas Eve services online, and celebrate the real Reason for the Season. We will be giving special thanks that we continue to be healthy.

  15. Portal with family, FedExed presents, and Italian food for two. Will take on my west coast son in some games on Steam. Grateful our family is doing OK.

  16. Will cook too much as per usual, and drop off the Christmas meal to my just-widowed closest friend. We’re staying by ourselves - we’re sort of coming to see it as our civic duty, sigh.

    Best to all, dbk

  18. Seeing lots more B-N restaurants announce they are shutting their doors after Christmas at least until indoor dining resumes in the new year. I hope they are not gone for good and their employees are able to do OK.

  19. 100% at home. Barbecued brisket, glogg, and the last DVD in the Battlestar Galactica series.

Would also like to share that the Honeywell brand face masks are expensive but really good.

  20. Christmas at home. Having son, daughter-in-law, and two grandkids Christmas Eve. Just the two of us Christmas Day; still debating if we will eat leftovers from the night before or put an order in from Mariah’s like we did at Thanksgiving.

  21. Unless something changes during the holidays, all Secretary of State drivers’ facilities closed again due to the COVID case rise starting in mid-November will be reopening Jan. 5.

This only concerns most of the smaller local drivers’ facilities statewide. SOS employees in downtown Springfield elsewhere, including at the closed facilities, have still been physically reporting to work:

  22. We were gonna go to Mexico but we cancelled that trip. So we’ll just be at home and I think we’re doing fondue on Xmas? Kind of strange, but ok. Kids will be pleased with Santa…it’ll be a big video game day

  23. Soloing it this year. Hard not to go visit my Mom as I usually do, but it didn’t feel safe enough to fly to Salt Lake to see her, knowing how many people I would encounter at the airports. So feeling some holiday depression at the moment, especially knowing Mom is by herself because of my decision.

  24. WBEZ will be broadcasting Goodman Theater’s radio adaptation of A Christmas Carol. I forget the times but I’m sure the information is at the website.

  27. We’re gonna go for a ride to view Christmas lights and then Home for the Holidays…with hope in our hearts.

Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to every one.

  29. I’ve worked holidays in the past… second shift on Christmas Eve.. mornings on Christmas Day.. Evenings on Thanksgiving.. I shake my head right now at all the people who DEMAND they have their holiday.
It’s not the day that makes the holiday…

Spending Thanksgiving with friends instead of family, getting off work at 11 pm and driving three hours home on Christmas Eve, or flying to see family on the 26th because I spent the last two days working has instilled in me what the holidays are about.

Had one Christmas already in a parking lot halfway between parental units and ourselves, will do a gift swap Wednesday with the other set the same way and zoom to NorCal on Christmas Day.
We have a birthday to celebrate in there too.

Life is what you make it. Try to make yours filled with joy and good deeds when you can.
