We’re almost at the end of the year –– and that’s why we want to make sure you saw Darin’s message earlier this week about what’s coming to Illinois in 2021.
Democrats are in charge of redrawing our state’s political maps, and we don’t have any faith that they’re going to prioritize Republican representation above their liberal agenda.
That’s why Darin is leading the charge to stop their partisan gerrymandering in its tracks, but he’s going to need OUR help to get the job done, xxxx.

* Meanwhile, this is from earlier in the week…
18th District Congressman Darin LaHood conceded the race yesterday morning during the AM Conversation on WLDS. He said that President Trump deserved his day in court to see if his lawsuits surrounding the election had legal merit: “I’ve said all along that you need to have facts and evidence if you are going to allege that there were voting improprieties. Those have not been brought forth. We saw that on Friday night with the Supreme Court moving swiftly and definitively. Now, I was one that signed on to the brief. I believe that everybody should have their day in court, but the Supreme Court ruled that there was no merit to moving forward with the Texas case. I think we are getting much closer to [a transition]. I think the Electoral College decision [yesterday] will move us closer to an administration with [former] Vice President Biden.”
So, to be clear, if constituents sued Congressman LaHood for focusing on the remap instead of doing his job in DC during an international pandemic and massive unemployment, he’d be all about them having their day in court.

Nobody hates gerrymandering more than I do (well, almost nobody - suppose if I lost an election…) and I strongly disagree with SCOTUS majority rulings on the issue, but I don’t ignore them either. Right now the only ways to stop gerrymandering are political, not legal. LaHood is pushing a grift.

Congressman Darin LaHood of Illinois sponsored a bill for state and local governments to seek forgivable loans from the federal government during the pandemic - and then specifically cut Illinois out of the bill.

I’m sure he meant President-Elect Biden.
And I’m sure he’s planning to lead on the remap process. Send him money, because he’s going to be leading the fight. It doesn’t matter that he won’t have a vote on the remap. Send him $10, $20, whatever you have, so he can cash your checks and laugh at you for believing his con.
Rep. LaHood thinks his constituents are dumb. I hope they prove him wrong.

Exactly how is he going to spend the money I give him in a way that has anything to do with the re-map? As a US rep, he doesn’t have a say, and his ability to affect the process from the outside is almost zero. Wouldn’t he be better off just honestly asking for money to help re-elect him? It’s no wonder that few politicians get respect from anyone but the hardcore party drones.

Are you sure he is Ray LaHoods son? Has anyone really seen his birth certificate? I mean he may be but who knows? And did anyone really count all the votes in his district. Everyone I talked to voted against him and that’s like the whole district. I saw a Mr. Softee truck near the Republican headquarters by the fairground giving our free ballots with their soft serve. I not saying it happened I’m just saying it merits investigation

Dear Cong. LaHood, I was a proponent of IL redistricting reform, but your support of your party’s anti-democracy and racist efforts to disenfranchise millions of voters has changed my mind. To me, this unilateral reform in the face of the GOP’s opposition to any redistricting reform in red states and the Supreme Court’s endorsement of political gerrymandering, would only serve to further the corrupt cause of your party. I can only support national reform.
To put it bluntly, I want the state’s Dem mappers to redistrict you and as many GOP officials out of office as possible.

Perhaps he should ask Texas and Georgia to have independent redistricting. Then we can consider it.
Probably very worried how bad the census numbers will be downstate. We knew some Trump fans that would not answer.

But he needs a viable challenger in 2022. The time between elections is for on-the-ground organizing at the local level. By the beginning of 2022 there should be a strong Democratic opponent with plenty of support in place and ready to take him on.
Honestly, if you can’t find somebody who is capable of taking on an empty suit who betrayed his district and his state with that bill he introduced, well, what’s left to say.

History will always remember Mr. Lahood for his public embrace of the disgraceful, undemocratic effort to disenfranchise the votes of millions of Americans and overturn the results of a free and fair Presidential election.
He can try and spin it any which way he wants but he has already shown us who he is and it will never be forgotten.
