  2. “every day is so sad. please wear a mask. please.” And I would add, patronize businesses that follow the rules and avoid those that don’t.

  3. and wear the mask properly, over one’s nose as well as one’s mouth. Gotta hang on for at least eight weeks and likely more. We won WWII, we can do this.

  4. On October 30, McLean County had 4359 positive cases since March 19. This morning, the number was 8907 positive cases. Yes, there is a large university there (ISU) and yes the number of cases from those in their 20s is over 3,000. However, the pre-teen and over 20s crowd have also jumped in the number of cases. Sadly, the number of cases in the oldest populations are few in number but that is where the most deaths have occurred. Too many parties and gatherings are the problem. And few masks are being worn at these events.

  5. Death is sad but inevitable. Something kills us all in the end.

    The silver-lining evident with this report is that 50% of these folks that have passed, exceeded the life expectancy age in Illinois.

    But as important, this list of the decedents ages don’t really tell the whole story as we don’t know if these souls died “with covid,” or “from covid.”

    That’s a censored topic and not considered “scientific,” so I doubt this post will be allowed any sunshine.

  7. So sad when people say, Oh well, they “exceeded the life expectancy age in Illinois.” There is no silver lining to any of this.

  8. ===Death is sad but inevitable.===

    Your equanimity is truly inspiring. I think we can all agree that the deceased should be reduced to statistics, since thinking of them as people with individual value is just plain messy.

  9. Jibba, now do all the kids struggling and dropping out of e-learning, and the small business genocide. Aren’t those individuals too?

    When government decides who to sacrifice we are all in trouble.

    Your ignorance of choice words and phrasing is noted.

    The Facebook thoughts to a thesaurus word choices seem winning to you, but highlights some really, well, odd thinking

  12. We can assist businesses and students. We can’t help those who died of COVID. When faced with that, you do what you are able to do, but you seem to have trouble comprehending. Hint: 250k deaths did not come from trouble in school or at work.

    ‘These folks’ were all alive when they contracted Covid, and most of them would still be alive if they hadn’t contracted it. This is not Logan’s Run. We don’t send people off to die because they have outlasted the state life expectancy.

    Read the first sentence of the above paragraph again. People who had pre-existing conditions when they contracted Covid and died because Covid overpowered their weakened state are properly classified as Covid deaths. People could be living with cancer and catch Covid and die from complications of Covid. Cancer didn’t kill that person if they would still be alive except for Covid wearing their body out.

  14. thoughts matter, you just described normal death from a pathogen.

    Comment by 40,000 ft Thursday, Dec 3, 20 @ 9:42 pm

  15. ===normal death===

    So because it was a pathogen we shouldn’t do anything to prevent transmission and treat the infected where we can? The old and infected are in the way of our economic recovery, so off they go? Repugnant. Back under the bridge.

  17. =+you just described normal death from a pathogen.==

    I explained to you that your supposed point about ‘from Covid’ vs ‘with Covid’ is irrelevant. If a person would be alive except for having contracted Covid, then that’s what is important.
    Who are you to decide that dying from a pathogen is just the way life goes? With that attitude we wouldn’t have the medicines and vaccines we have today… we’d just shrug our shoulders and say ‘ polio, sepsis, smallpox…. come on in’.
