  2. From what I saw last night, Springfield City Council meetings might have to move to pay-for-view status.

One members refusing to wear a mask and telling a member of the media to get out.

The mayor and aldermen firing away at the Sangamon County Health Department over inspections, the Sangamon County Administrator firing back at the mayor and alderman two of which play to media and the “open it up gang”.

And the same member who won’t wear a mask sitting behind plexiglass telling the mayor, “I won’t forget this”.

It was Springpatch local yocals at their finest.

  3. You can debate whether or not they should be playing, but since they are I think the Illini make the final four this season.

  4. Regarding the idea of the “Gang of 55″ still supporting MJM: with the Willis defection, one has to wonder if Durkin’s hard 45 votes are actually more than Himself has in hand at this time.

  5. I have a co-workers whose wife is a COVID “long-hauler” and has been sick since March. I wish all the politicians who believe opening businesses is more important than protecting people’s health would meet with that family.

  6. Ms Millburn has a point. If there are other places in town (Peoria in her case) that are still open inside in violation of the law it is not fair to selectively enforce the law. All restaurants currently open in defiance of the law should be treated the same way. If the health officials don’t know where they are offer a reward (say a small local gift certificate –something that can be spent only at local businesses– for information to the public. The money will re-circulate in the local economy and it will at least look like the health officials are playing fair.

  7. Speaking of the Springfield City Council. Seems the two City Aldermen that are so up in arms about the Governor’s mitigation guidelines for restaurants and bars have no concern about the recent furloughed medical district employees that vote in their wards. According to one Alderman some of Springfield’s restaurants are cleaner than the hospitals and that’s after he’s talked to the leaders of the hospitals.

All of that bickering back and forth and nothing about the people who are in the hospitals sick and those who have lost loved ones. Just open our bars and restaurants. It’s not fair to them. Well it’s not fair to those who are burying their loved ones either Chuck.

  8. Chuck and Ralph should just open each statement with, ” now that I’m running for mayor”.

  9. Willis’s statement is pure nonsense. Why hasn’t she resigned her leadership position? Why hasn’t her husband resigned from that $95k part time job he received due to her association with Madigan. She is a HYPOCRITE talking about morales and ethics. If she had any she would return all additional monies she and her husband received

  10. It’s a beautiful day out there, even if a bit cold for early December. Hope to get out for a walk before lunch.

Let’s hope the Illini turn out to be worthy of their early ranking. They looked pretty shaky against Ohio.

  14. So given our predicament and in your estimation, how long does a Bears rebuild take to get back to 8-8?

On a other front, I’ve had a few convos recently about the upcoming redistricting headache in 2022 and wanted to quickly take a pulse of folks here. If you had to bet, which congresscritters do you anticipate being drawn together and do you see any of these members (or even former members of Congress) trying to make a leap for higher office? Or do they pull a Mad Dog Manzulo, take their ball after a loss and go home?

  16. ===So given our predicament and in your estimation, how long does a Bears rebuild take to get back to 8-8?===

If there ends up being a true rebuild I expect far better than 8-8. Hopefully Pace is out at the end of this year (or earlier) and we can replace him with someone trying to build a real team rather than rolling the dice in the hopes of getting lucky. I suspect Nagy is shown the door at the end of next season. There is no way our O line is improved or do we have an actual QB next year to save Nagy. I say in three years we see a Bears team that shows some “personal pride” and has a “freaking sense of urgency.”

  17. WTAX Springfield (Dave Dahl’s station) only had a small snippet on this, but they are reporting that IEPA’s headquarters will soon be moving from 9th and North Grand due to the RR consolidation.

IEPA will be moving to the old Sears store at White Oaks Mall.

    https://wtax.com/news/101101-mall-to-gain-700-state-jobs/

Three years ago, you could buy washer dryers and refrigerators at Sears. Soon IEPA employees might be inspecting washer dryers and fridges for environmental efficiency from that same site.

  19. The Cook County Medical Examiner released the number of gun victims recently.

Nationally there are two gun suicides for every one gun homicide. The Cook County Medical Examiner has 813 gun homicides and 143 gun suicides so far this year.

Why the discrepancy? Can I conclude that residents of Cook County are just happier and less prone to suicide than residents elsewhere in America?
