We won! After going to bed with a 27 vote lead on election night, the Vote-By-Mail returns have come in as expected. Our lead has grown to 5,354 votes and we expect that margin to grow as more ballots are counted. I promise I will always do my best to represent the 10th District pic.twitter.com/FpYhoI6QeZ

ICYMI Democratic presidential candidate Biden has pulled ahead in Chicago's 41st Ward 50.87% to 47.54% (983-vote margin) https://t.co/f4j9ECiSBF That shift prompted a rewrite of the Tribune's Saturday morning story about the President's apparent win https://t.co/UB48RNRXi1

As subscribers know, the Underwood count was adjusted again, but she’s still ahead.

  1. Why is Lake always so slow with VBM? Even Clerk changes haven’t made a difference. Anyway, congrats to Oberweis for declaring victory! You and DJT will have plenty of time to hit the links in Florida.

  2. Milk man tweets “Election was stolen” in 3, … 2, … 1…

  3. Milk left out sours.

As the days went forward, the more sour the milk got.

My best to Oberweis, he can now enjoy Florida with his wife.

  4. Dave Wasserman, election analyst/forecaster, says he’s seen nearly enough in the Underwood race. Wasserman is having a very entertaining Twitter timeline, with people practically begging him to say if he’s seen enough on Biden winning. Nice GIF’s on “I’ve seen enough.”

  5. Had Sue Rezin won the primary, this is a likely Republican pick-up. Many of their key victories this cycle occurred with women candidates. Is there anyone in state politics that has lost more times than Oberweis?

  6. Signature approval by three election judges on VBM ballots in Lake must be unanimous this cycle as opposed to by a majority in previous elections. That, coupled with a historic shortage of judges to go along with a pan-freaking-demic, oh, and the largest vote turn-out in history, so yeah, Lake County is slow. But there is an absolute paper trail for every single vote. We like it that way.

  7. that quote from the Tribune article from the Alderman of the ward that not once was the looting and violence called out by Democrats is just plain wrong.

  8. What are the bookies saying the Ober and Under is in the 14th? I’m sorry, I’ll stop.

  9. I’m absolutely giddy at the Oberweis Underwood race being so close. Especially because it looked like he was going to win, declared victory, was his usual self, and now he is going to lose. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy….

Comment by Ducky LaMoore Monday, Nov 9, 20 @ 10:54 am

  10. Oberweis has now cost the NRCC an easy pick up opportunity due to his hubris. In 2014 he beat out Doug Truax (and Army veteran and businessman) in a huge GOP year only to lose a close race to Durbin. That would have been a nice pickup.

Perhaps there is more fertile ground in Florida for Jim to sour with his curds and whey.

Comment by Turner Monday, Nov 9, 20 @ 10:57 am

  11. Wasn’t Oberweis the guy circling Soldier Field in his helicopter? Maybe he’s still there….

Comment by DuPage Dave Monday, Nov 9, 20 @ 11:14 am

  12. **In 2014 he beat out Doug Truax (and Army veteran and businessman) in a huge GOP year only to lose a close race to Durbin. **

Durbin won by more than 10 points.

  13. Now Oberweis (like BVR) can dispense with appearances and become residents of Florida.

Comment by Jocko Monday, Nov 9, 20 @ 11:39 am

  14. I worked in the Lake County Clerks office over the weekend processing trays and trays of mail in and drop box votes. The current vote counts for Lake will not be updated until tomorrow.

  15. Cut the LGDF 15%.

Stop sending state grants to police departments for enforcement that is supposed to be what the police are doing anyway.

Re-calculate the funding ratio for IDOT projects. Put the burden on the local area 75/25.

Then make more cuts in those same areas the year afterwards.

    Cut school district transportation funding/grants.

These cuts have to be both spread out across the state, but also implemented in a way where the loudest calls for cuts are coming from.
