For ballot issue, the ads against the progressive tax are just lame, whiny, and frankly could be construed as lying. Every time I see one on the internet, I press skip ad as fast as I can. Thus, just out of spite, vote yes on the progressive tax.

We have to pay our bills so taxes are going up regardless of whether you vote for or against the Fair Tax. Unless you make more than $260,000, you’ll pay a lot less with the Fair Tax than without. So vote yes and make the billionaires and millionaires and rich lobbyists pay their fair share.

Confusion generally equals “no” votes on referendum questions.
True or not, the anti-Fair Tax crowd has sewn significant confusion . . . . .it goes down to defeat.

Because of COVID (and the president’s willful negligence in managing it), Illinois and other states are starving for revenue. The poorest, sickest, most vulnerable, students, schools, vendors, state employees and so many others are facing harsh cuts. A tiny group of Illinois’ richest people are fighting to not pay a penny more in taxes, while continuing to pass their share of the burden to everyone else. It’s time to give the vast majority of Illinoisans a tax cut and tax the wealthiest more. Vote yes for the Fair Tax.

If you vote no on the progressive tax, taxes will go up for 100% of Illinoisans.
If you vote yes on the progressive tax, taxes will go down for 97% of Illinoisans.

I agree.
Not only has Durbin overstayed his “expiration” date, he spends more time looking out for the national party interests than he does looking out for the State of Illinois’ interests.

For the fair tax — Have the politicians ever asked for your opinion on whether your taxes should be raised before? No? If this passes, they may not raise your taxes. If this doesn’t, they will. Choose accordingly.

The Progressive tax gets down to trust. Do you trust, a Progressive-Elitist Billionaire, who has evaded paying his Fair Share of taxes, and passed that on to others, has donated over 50 million of his own money so that he and his family can pay more in taxes and you pay less?
Do you trust, a Progressive Politician, who’s law firm has made millions helping the Elite and Powerful to pay less while others are made to pay more, who has been named in Corruption Investigations, who says he wants people like those who his firm has represented to pay more in taxes?
Are they trust worthy?

Biggest problem with the fair tax is no one is stupid enough to buy that 97% will get a tax cut.
Where is the other 4 billion dollars to balance the budget supposed to come from?

Vote No - The Democrats are incapable of even trying to cut costs. They always look at tax increases as the solution to budget problems. Force them to make the difficult decisions that should have been made ten years ago like other states did. Until COVID California had a budget surplus this year! Why are we still in a deficit every year?

Fair Tax ads - 97% percent do not get tax cuts. 97% just do not get tax hikes. And how much are they saving? A few bucks? Can’t trust Springfield to do the right thing with any monies they raise and I don’t trust them not to raise my taxes next year. Voting no as is everyone I speak with. Vote no.

Except for the time he sponsored the Computer and Internet Access Equity Act to help low income households get get internet and phone service, and the Emergency Educational Connections Act to provide 4 billion for schools and libraries to support internet-enabled devices,
And voted for the Cares act, and USMCA and the First Step Act.
And many appointments and appropriations.
You can check out votesmart.org to see stuff he did for Illinois. I’m not sure what golden unicorn you’re looking for that qualifies.

The legislature raised a whole boatload of taxes on us during Pritzker’s first year in office. After all that sticker shock they then tell us the Fair Tax referendum passage means 97% of us will either not pay higher taxes or get a tax cut. That later morphed to 97% will get a tax cut. All movement that without changing a word in the referendum. Now I’m seeing ads that state this may result in the State being able to meet their school funding obligations at last, and that our property taxes may be reduced. Promises, promises.
Do you trust them? Great line by the anti group.
The most irritating ad is labeling Rep. Ugaste a child molester lover whose vote against unfunded mandates may flood our schools with pedophiles. With all those pedophiles running wild in our schools, will there be room for the poor students in the buildings or will they be crowded out? Sickest ad I’ve ever seen in politics.

My most despised candidate was a Jeannie Ives. She supported Rauner’s efforts to damage the state. Then she turned on him on the abortion issue. On that issue he was right.
I always think that she lists Jefferson Davis as one of America’s best presidents. Ugh.
Hoping she loses so badly she goes away.

Because we’ve had a structural budget deficit for the last three or so decades. When people are asked what they world cut when they advocate cutting services, we get nothing but silence or ludicrous IPI Koch Bros BS. The Fair Tax is the first step in correcting that deficit, without screwing the little guy who the rich are feverishly trying to hide behind as they have done for the last three or so decades…see the connection there? If not, I can’t help you understand, but if you want to continue to be a citizen of the great state of Illinois, you’ll need to pay your fair share and if not, well, see ya. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out. We’ll be fine without you.
