  1. In view of Saturday’s particularly awful numbers, a little hopeful news - hang in there:

  2. Regions 3 (Springfield/Quincy) and Region 6 (Chambana/Decatur/Effingham) both hit 7.8% positivity today.

Both the Eastern and Western Blocs continue to inch closer and closer to their own mitigations, in time for Halloween.

  3. Weird how Pritzker administration uses UIUCs number to keep positivity rate low at state level, but doesn’t use them for Region 6. Pick a lane, and stick with it. If Region 6 goes into mitigation you will be talking out of both sides of your mouth.

  4. Looks like we’ll be over 10,000 deaths very soon.

  5. Not surprised, given that a family member saw 20-30% of people visiting a popular State park over Columbus Day not wearing masks, a phenomenon having little to do with opposition to mask requirements.

  6. Shut it down. Stop pretending

  7. 15,000 infections in three days. Wow. And that includes data reported on Saturday and Sunday, which is always low.

Make sure you buckle-up in your five-point harness tomorrow, folks.

    Agree with Almost the weekend.

Time for the administration to stop watering down the statewide numbers with UIUC.

Anyone know what the real positivity rate is?

  8. So many cases, Illinois cannot possibly be keeping up with the contact tracing.

It is time to rethink virtual contact tracing.

Comment by Juvenal Monday, Oct 26, 20 @ 1:10 pm

  9. Contact tracing works best when you have virus under control. Since it is spreading wildly the best bet may be shut it down and reset. That said too many people will fight a shut down without a national strategy and a way to ensure incomes continue while people are home. Saw an interview with a rabbi in Israel talking about their shutdown. His statement was that the strategy is like a hand. There are many different views (fingers) but the hand works best when all the fingers work together.

  10. In a few days, over half of the regions in the state will be in mitigation. How can they not just roll things back for the state as a whole? We have to put a lid on this and wishing it away will not work.

  11. CNN just played the clip of Dr. Ezike breaking down during a press briefing last weekend. Wow.

Please… There’s no tracing program in illinois. That along with the unemployment debacle are 2 things jb does t want you to ask about. He owns them.

  16. ==In a few days, over half of the regions in the state will be in mitigation. How can they not just roll things back for the state as a whole?==

I will go on a limb and guarantee that all regions statewide will be in mitigation by Election Day, if not sooner. Those not in mitigation will be put over the top because of the St. Patrick’s Day of Fall, aka Halloween.

Comment by Chatham Resident Monday, Oct 26, 20 @ 6:22 pm

  17. Chatham Resident won’t be happy until the entire state is shut down again. We of the 6th region have been floating in the 7% area for weeks now and never hit 8%. Worry about your own house.
