* Maybe give it a look-see…

Questions about state finances, taxes, economics and policy are all around us lately. My good friend @ChrisCrisanti recently started a website for just that kind of things. Please give it read. https://t.co/YsRuyogxHq

You don’t have to discuss that website, but whatever you talk about just please keep it Illinois-centric and polite. Thanks much.

  1. B1G football is back tonight.

Illinois at Wisconsin, the Badgers favored by the “guys in the desert” by a bunch.

Wisconsin also has at least one known patient in a field hospital, Illinois is on the brink of moving back to a more dire phase of Coronavirus status.

    But, I-L-L… I-N-I

  4. Can we already disqualify the entire NFC East from playoff consideration? Especially if the Bears end up with a better record than that division winner (since the schedule will be tough in the second half and they can’t afford these last minute comebacks much longer).

  5. Obviously this article was published before last night’s Eagles-Giants game, and it won’t last much longer, but this supports the point I made at 9:15. Fascinating stat. And had they won against Indy they would have had a better record than the whole East until last night.

  6. DeKalb County Health Department has decided to publish a list of shame. Restaurants and bars not following COVID-19 indoor dining rules risk having their permits pulled; at step 2 of a 5-step process leading to that outcome, DCHD has promised to publish the names on the front page of its website.

  7. Sad to hear of Joel Daly’s passing, but so appropriate that he’d just watched the news.

  8. - JoanP -

    “I’m Joel Daley”

    “And I’m Fahey Flynn”

How great were they? Hopefully they’re doing the news together again. #Chicago

  10. Had the “joy” of having my rush hour drive home disrupted by a Sen. Darren Bailey campaign swing through Bloomington-Normal last night.

An SUV promoting him as state senator and his Restore Illinois bus was part of a caravan of 15 or so Trump fans going slowly down the left lane of northbound Veterans Parkway around 5:15 p.m.

While most of the caravan participants were big trucks and SUVs that were more appropriately designed for Trump flag display, unfortunately the caravan was led by a white low-riding sports car that kept having its oversized Trump flag blow from the drivers side window over the driver side of the windshield making it impossible for the driver to see where he was going without him braking and reaching out his window to push the flag out of the way every little while. Not real safe.

I see on the Pantagraph this morning they were driving to a debate watch party and that the actual flag itself on the sports car said “Trump 2020 Make Liberals Cry”. Well Mr. Sports Car you did not make this liberal cry but I will definitely not ever again be patronizing your business in town.

  11. Somewhat Illinois-centric, The Verge has a fascinating in-depth piece showing the extent of Wisconsin’s Foxconn boondoggle.

  12. My wife received an endorsement piece from the IEA yesterday for the 49th Senate District. We live in the 48th District.

Wall to wall Rodney Davis ads during Thursday night NFL. Don’t remember seeing a single Londrigan ad.

  13. South Cook County getting soggy from the rain; skipped the debate and the football game; Bears on Monday Night Football; DeVore still running amuck; RIP Joel Daley, when news was news and reporters reported; Reminder: How old is your vehicle’s battery as wintery temps arrive? Remember to mask up, socially distance, and ignore Covidiots.

  14. I just attended my 16 year old nephew´s funeral (heat defect, not covid) in Iowa. everyone was masked except the priest when he read the gospel and gave the homily (after and before he was masked). At the cemetery, most of the masks were off. I guess people have got the message of inside is riskier than outside. We kept our masks on, kept our distance (the boy´s grandfather is highly vulnerable to the virus). And when we get back to IL we are going into hard lockdown. Everything we need, including groceries, will be ordered to be delivered and we won´t leave our premises for 2 weeks to be safe.
