If anyone knows a business staying open please list them
And then dozens of southern Illinoisans dutifully posted the names of restaurants and taverns which vow to remain open despite new mitigations imposed by IDPH - making it pretty darned easy for local and state public health officials to track and confront the scofflaws.
Some folks just don’t think ahead too well, I suppose.
Also, I saved a copy of the page just in case.

This helps…
… the state and locals can look at an efficient way to fine or worse more places of business in a very short time.
It makes sense, if you think how some aren’t smart to wearing a mask… this is on brand to… smarts.

Hate to break it the blog audience, but few are paying any attention to these orders by the Governor. When your Governor is so far out of step compared to surrounding states, and when people have to decide between making a living or obeying some politicians command, the choice is an easy one to make.

Mayor Langfelder in Springfield is trying to urge the Governor and IDPH to allow the city’s restaurants to continue indoor dining even if Region 3 is forced into mitigations. The positivity rate for the region stood at 7.5% and rising.

It is worth noting that while more and more businesses will choose to go this route, they do so without likely any insurance coverage. Insurance companies will almost certainly deny any claims arising while the business was supposed to be closed to indoor dining.

ugh, we can support restaurants and bars with carrying out. I haven’t ordered from a chain since Feb. Supporting our independent restaurants, breweries, and mom & pop shops doesn’t only have to be with indoor dining. My favorite spot even has carryout margaritas, talk about great taco Tuesdays at home. Stay safe, eat and drink local and carryout.

Lockport Stagecoach in Will county left a long screed on their public facebook page yesterday about why they will be staying open for indoor dining.

If one such business had a negative Health Inspection because customers might get sick due to unsanitary practices in the kitchen, everyone would complain about the restaurant. But since some businesses might get a negative Health Inspection because customers might get sick due to unsanitary practices in the dining area, people are willing to look the other way. We seem to have lost our way.

Maybe I missed this but is Rockford State Senator Dave Syverson’s pie chart factual? If it is does it pertain to the state or just his region. Says it is from the Department of Health. Really skeptical of it as I have seen nothing like it before but do believe we need more detailed information from many of our health departments and local papers.

The sad part is - these folks will just keep doing what they are doing. Local municipalities and counties won’t look at any enforcement measures, and if comes to sending in ISP as was done in Monroe the local state’s attorneys will just toss the case/ticket.
The good thing about this particular Facebook group - it’s a quick, easy, and handy reference of where I WON’T be spending my $ now or post pandemic. Speaking of that, how’s that list coming Rich?

I just don’t see how this has any bearing on why they need to have restricted service (not “shuttered”). It is sad and requires government assistance, but not a free pass to transmit the virus.

You’re both right. This is the price we pay for an incompetent federal government that can’t prevent or mitigate society-wide risks. All the individuals within the system are faced with loaded choices where selfish behavior is incentivized because selfless behavior buys you nothing. This will happen over and over again for the rest of my life and my son’s life as climate change progresses. Thanks for breaking all of our tools for collective action, boomers!

If I knew a restaurant was open for in house service I don’t think I’d even trust them to do carryout/delivery.

I have not. But if I were a business owner impacted by this pandemic I would not disregard the directives. The last thing I would want on my conscience is for one of my staff or customers to become ill, permanently impaired, or die due to my negligence. That’s just not a choice I would make. I appreciate the difficulty business owners are experiencing but there are other ways of dealing with it.

If The top three places that come up over and over again are people’s workplaces, school, and restaurants and bars,” as Dr. Ngozi Ezike said, then why do DHS state employees have to show up at the office every day? I’ve had to come into the office everyday this year. Sounds like. Double standard to me.

rather than alienating the percentage of population in their area who are health conscious, why not instead of deciding to break health and hygiene rules, embrace health and hygiene rules so that their area stays off the state’s radar?

Time for Health Departments statewide to start posting businesses they shut down with the old style “QUARANTINED by order of _________” signs they used decades ago during polio and other outbreaks. The #freetospreaddisease nonsense must stop (banned punctuation)

I think one risk of some of these restauranteurs is the ripping apart of the unspoken contract of restaurant dining. Basically a they pretend to care for you and you pay them. Here, the mask is pulled off and you see that the restaurant owner does not care at all about their diners. I wonder if it will lead to less dining out overall?

If I were these bars/restaurants, particularly the ones with liquor licenses I’d be careful about being too noisy. According to Gov. Pritzker today ISP is alerted to patrol for businesses not in compliance and liquor licenses are on the line, “Pritzker said that so far he has been reluctant to pull the liquor license from an establishment that refuses to adhere to the mitigation guidelines “because it has a semi-permanent effect on a business.”
“But now we’re going to be making sure we enforce that,” he said.

I also feel very little sympathy for these businesses. While they will never look locally and inward for the blame (it’s too easy to blame the big bad Chicago politicians) the refusal to abide by common sense precautions in the name of “freedom” is why we’re still dealing with this over 6 months after it started.
