* Remember this statement by DeWitt/Piatt Bi-County Health Department Director Dave Remmert last week?

This weekend’s mobile COVID testing site should help DeWitt County increase testing and allow the County to come off the Governor’s COVID warning list.

* Welp

95 samples were taken over the weekend at the mobile testing unit at the DeWitt/Piatt Bi-County Health Department location on Revere Road in Clinton.

Results from those tests are not in yet however, the health department is reporting a large spike in cases, including multiple positive tests at Liberty Village in Clinton.

  5. If I understood their premise, the only way to decrease positivity was for negative tests to greatly increase, while positive tests to remain relatively stable?

    In order for that premise to work don’t you have to believe there isn’t that many residents in your county who are positive? Again believing this is just a metropolitan problem?

  6. I mean, you could still game the system, but it would require moving past testing only people with symptoms or exposures, and proactively testing everyone, repeatedly. Like, on the scale of everyone, every week. Do that for two months and we stop this silly treadmill we’ve been running since March.

    Right now, there is a self-selection issue, where you are theoretically getting a higher rate than what is probably in the population. At the same time, increased testing is uncovering more untraced cases, which is temporarily increasing the positivity rate.

    This is a good thing though. The more we test, the more we find, and the better job we can do to stop the spread. I don’t see the downside of govt officials accidentally finding more cases with increased testing. Everyone should be more proactive about testing, no matter what your motivations are.

    Nope. As I explained last week, that won’t be allowed to game the system https://capitolfax.com/2020/10/09/once-again-for-the-people-in-the-back-gaming-the-system-will-not-work/

  10. Forget those stupid tests. We’re so done with Covid and if we really, really, really and truly believe it is gone…it will be gone. Then, we use our magic beans and play indoor sports and drink our local businesses dry. Everything will go back to the way we think it used to be. /s
