Speaking of Flu Shots. Has anyone got theirs at one of the local pharmacies like Hyvee or Walgreens vs going to the Doctors office? Plus someone mentioned shingles shots the other day. Is there an age requirement for that? From what I’ve heard the shingles are terrible. I forgot to ask the Doc at my last Telehealth appointment.

I got my flu shot at local independent pharmacy. I think they also do shingles vaccine.

I asked my doctor’s office about the shingles shot. They advised me to find out if my insurance covers it. It does not. Bummer. They also said it’s expensive.
I plan to get my flu shot at the doctor’s office.

I used to get my yearly flu shot like clockwork late Oct/early Nov. Then someone brought it into work early September and of course I caught it. Now I get the shot around Labor Day. I get it from a pharmacy. It costs nothing out of pocket with most (all?) health insurance providers.

Cubs playoff baseball begins today, and I also acknowledge… the Cardinals are also playing today as well.
Full slate of ball games for distractions or a chance to “choose sides” and have some fun.

Since due to the pandemic there will not be State Employee flu shot clinics in state buildings this year (for those with Health Alliance, Blue Cross and other state employee health isurance plans), I got my flu shot at one of the Springfield Clinic new drive-up clinics two weeks ago. Quick and easy.
10 years ago I got my annual flu shot at Walmart due to me having to be out of the office for conferneces on the days they were coming to the Capitol Complex. I got that shot in mid-September that year, then a few weeks later I get a perturbed letter or call from Health Alliance upset with me about going to the Walmart clinic compared to the ones for State employees. When I told them I was going to be out of the office on those days they were in the Capitol, it eventually took some haggling but I was able to get it covered that year. But with Health Alliance warning me to never go get the flu shots at Walmart, Walgreens and other stores unless I wanted to pay up.
Hopefully I would think with these extenuating circumstances, that Health Allaince will be more understanding of my choice to use Springfield Clinic’s flu shot clinic this year. Since my primary physicians are from Springfield Clinic.

Going to the Doc next month for a general checkup. They called yesterday to tell me if I want a flu shot to use the drive-up facility to obtain it as they are trying to limit people in the offices.
Does that mean I can get a Double Cheeseburger and supersize fries with it?

Looks like everyone’s favorite journalist, Amy Jacobson, is back on the rally circuit. Yesterday she referred to school closures as child abuse. You know, typical comments for a “journalist.”

Sox are looking good so far. We’ll see what the Cubs can do. In my lifetime this is probably the best chance for the two to meet in the World Series - and I have no chance of attending the game. Only in 2020.

At the Jewel/Osco, with your flu shot you get a 10% off coupon when you spend >$200.

Got my flu shot at the beginning of the month at work. I always get mine, but this year they are required at work for the first time. Mild arm soreness for less than 24 hours

My grandfather got shingles when I was a little kid. I wasn’t allowed near him–not because of the death of contagion, because he pretty much refused to wear clothing while dealing with it.

Got my flu shot at my doctor’s office.
Got my VBM ballot yesterday and filled it out except for the judicial retentions; gotta first check the Chicago Bar Assn. and Illinois State Bar Assn. judicial rankings.

1) Shingles vaccines are good for ~5 years, so it’s likely worth the out of pocket costs for those over 55, because…
2) I’ve been hit by a car and know a guy who got shingles and I’d rather get hit by the car again.

Second getting the shingles shot. Incredibly painful with lingering symptoms.
Had a friend who just got a letter asking for them to start repaying a $9800 stimulus loan. A loan they never applied for or received. Not sure how hard it will be to resolve this. Can’t imagine it will be easy. Watch your mail.

Thanks for the information on the Flu shots and especially the shingles vaccine. Out of the three of us boys my Mom said I was a chicken pox nightmare. So I’ve been worried about the shingles, but I have a few years before I’m sixty and I’m sure my insurance wouldn’t cover it until I’m at least 60. I’ll hit Hyvee for my Flu shot and get 20 cents of a gallon of gas.

There are 2 different types of shingles vaccines, and they are complementary. One is just a single shot; insurance often covers it. The other is a two shot series; insurance is less likely to cover those

Got a “senior strength” flu shot and a pneumonia shot at my Doc’s office yesterday. Was advised to get the Shinglix shot and a tetnus booster from my pharmacist. (As a retired State employee, am not able to get the flu shot at a State office this year,as they aren’t giving them.)

I can only speak to the Chicagoland area, but it took me about 20 minutes. Unlike a license renewal, a title transfer allows you to cut to the front of the line.

Got my flu shot at Kroger last week. You can make an appointment on line for a time slot and fill out forms online. I otherwise haven’t been inside a grocery store since March. The entire process in the store took about 10 minutes. I received my single shots (it takes 2) last year and I do not recall any problem with that. I watched a family member lose the will to live as he battled shingles which made it an easy decision for me to get protection. The vaccinations are minor compared to the shingles.

strange for me, I was pretty calm watching Giolito yesterday. what a game. his pitching was amazing. Engel going yard first. Classic. and Abreu doing his MVP thing. Grandal going yard late like he sometimes does. more nervous today, though Keuchel is experienced. do not want to get to a game 3 with all hands on deck and some weird bullpen action.

A sorry day for Chicago’s two baseball teams.
Both will be facing possible elimination tomorrow.
The Sox could advance or go home for the winter depending upon the outcome of Thursday’s game.
The Cubs wasted six good innings from Hendricks and managed only four hits on the day. The team must win two straight or the season is over.
