  1. The butter cow is really scaled back this year, but we can’t let Iowa show us up. https://i.redd.it/gvehsgmmi5b51.jpg

  2. I think it makes sense to create more regions and give Chicago some autonomy to deal with this. But I sincerely hope this was just laying the groundwork, i.e., prepping people for what’s to come. I’d really like to see IL shut down bars and indoor dining *before* we see the spike that other states have seen,

  3. Got some much needed rain last night around these parts (Chicago) but sorry for the people who got hit hard by rain and storms elsewhere in the state.

  4. Still so much we don’t know about Covid 19. The more proactive we are the more likely it is that we will avoid another complete shutdown

  5. Two thoughts. I too like the creation of 11 regions. I only hope some regions do not abuse this and start breaking protocols. Wear a mask.

Second, why oh why are bowling alleys suing? Many places of recreation and fitness are going through the same difficulty. People, indoors, sharing objects…bad idea.

  6. Good to see that Pritzker is adapting and adjusting our plans to reflect how things are changing. We still see states that are stubbornly hanging on to flawed principles such as not requiring masks, or refusing to curtail occupancy. You can’t do nothing and expect that things will somehow get better. We should be well past the denial stage of this virus as a country. Unfortunately that’s not the case.

  7. I as just out watching a crew take down a sizable portion of a huge tree down the block. I hadn’t even noticed it storm that badly last night. Cool enough this morning to make a loaf of bread.

  8. I just wish we could get several of the local HD’s in the southern and in the metro regions to adequately provide to the public and the press pertinent statistics each day or every other day, or at all.

  9. Really looking forward to baseball starting up again. I wonder, though- will the real games be as fun as the intra-squad scrimmages? Some of the highlights I’ve seen of the White Sox look like they’re having as much fun as kids on a sandlot and I love it.

I’m seeing places voluntarily moving back to just takeout and outdoor.

On a night drive I noticed the Springfield Sliders were playing. Didn’t realize they had started up.

Ironically, many of the areas that got deluged yesterday by the heavy rain and storms had been entering abnormally dry or moderate drought conditions. Including in the Bloomington and Peoria areas–the latter city received over 5 inches of rain yesterday (and some areas of the metro much more). Springfield had also been getting dry too, although we only received about a half-inch or so of rain here.
