So as we move forward, we need to get back to the things that we have been putting on hold. Now is the time to schedule your kids’ back to school physicals if you haven’t already. We need to make sure that the kids get checked out by their providers and get their life saving immunizations. Earlier during the pandemic, we had seen a decline in immunization. So now it’s time to catch up. No more waiting.
Doctor’s orders, Illinois.
Yes, there could be another surge of COVID-19 in the fall or perhaps earlier, but let’s make sure we take this opportunity now to get to our doctors. Let’s get our immunizations, let’s get our health screenings. Let’s get as healthy as we can. Your baseline health status affects how you fare against this virus.
This includes parents and teachers. Get your bloodwork done, your mammogram. I went for my mammogram this morning. Get your colonoscopies, take care of yourself and your loved ones. Let’s continue to do what we know works. I saw somewhere that they referred to as the three W’s. And so I’m going to be using this: wash your hands, watch your distance, you know that’s referring to the six feet, and wear a face covering. Let’s not lose ground. Lives are in our hands. Thank you so much.

Has anyone else heard the news about MacMurrary college in Jacksonville going bankrupt? I read the campus was going up on auction in a couple of months. If I read the history correctly it’s was founded in 1846 and some of those buildings are historic. I hope the older buildings on campus are preserved.

Rich, hope everything is good. I had mine a few weeks ago; best numbers in several years plus I actually lost some weight. Now I need to try to keep it off.
And I have one of those invasive procedures that got delayed coming up in a couple of weeks.

My husband’s doc told him that right now is the best time ever for getting a colonoscopy — they’ve finally gotten their act together on infection control in that, uh, area.

I’m very grateful to be healthy. My family is healthy. I’ve lost 2
friends to Covid 19. It is impossible for me to understand the people that claim wearing a mask violates their rights in some way. To the scientists and medical professionals that are doing their best to keep us safe, we owe so much. Yes, this cost me a lot of money but that seems trivial in the grand scheme. Please stay healthy, stay strong and do your best to be a good citizen.

What an irony. Our exam was this a.m. All results A-OK and declared incredibly fit older American. Hope the same for Capt Fax. We attribute the condition to daily doses of Capt Fax insights and other assorted clean living regimes

Just had cataract surgery, with right knee replacement surgery coming in August. All other tests fine. At 73 just needed a couple of parts replaced, and I keep on going. Take care of your body,you only have one.

IMT — It’s true about MacMurray College being closed with an auction impending. Not sure how the auction is being set up, but it comes after no serious buyers emerged for the entire campus. Talk is that the nursing program has been picked up by Illinois College, but no word whether any MacMurray property goes along.

I got the newsletter from the Ravenswood Lake View Historical Association today and learned the schools remained open in Chicago during the 1918 epidemic but the city closed the bordellos.

My cherries are just about ripe. The dang groundhog loved my peas and lettuce. My cholesterol was up 5 points each for HDL and LDL. I’m blaming the weight I’ve lost so quickly due to my poor ability to mange the pandemic stress. Hey, if people can blame masks and stay-at-home orders for the economic impact of a pandemic, I can blame higher cholesterol on weight loss.

Earnest, try a couple of Brazil nuts every 2 weeks. Store them in freezer. When my son’s cholesterol was high, I gave him that hint. His dr. wanted to know what he did when it went down so fast. She now recommends that to all her patients with high cholesterol. (Research available on line.)

But Sherman and here in Chatham, at this time, are still planning to have fireworks, but with social distancing protocols in place (good luck enforcing that).
