*** UPDATED x1 *** Rep. Bailey, other Eastern Bloc members meet with Willie Wilson to talk reparations (I did not make that up)

Posted in:

* Press release…

* Rep. Darren Bailey’s remarks

I’m a farmer about four hours south of here and a first term representative. And as a farmer, when things don’t work right you have to take a look at everything, try to determine what the problem is. And sometimes you’ve got to listen to the advice and and take other people’s ideas into consideration. And Dr. Wilson about two weeks ago, he called me up and he drove four hours south to Lewisville Illinois and sat with several area representatives to talk and share his ideas to this problem, this crisis that we’re experiencing. I don’t know the answer. I don’t know that I completely agree with some of the solutions and ideas that I’ve heard.

But one thing I do know, the one thing that I’ve discovered with government is that people don’t listen very well. A lot of people want to strive with their ideas, a lot of people want to push their agendas. So we are here today to listen, to simply to listen to an idea, and consider and certainly pray for an outcome. I’m so honored that we can be here with the church today, it’s the church that’s going to make the difference in this state and in this country and I’m so honored, of all places, to be here.

Listening has never been Bailey’s strong suit, of course.

* By the way, I asked Dr. Wilson’s spokesperson for comment on this Bailey statement from the other day and never heard back

Rep. Darren Bailey (R-Xenia) is questioning the Black Lives Matter movement based on that fact that a disproportional rate of pregnancies for black women end in abortion.

“If black lives matter, why are Illinois taxpayers funding the killing of unborn black babies?” asked Bailey, the first term 109th District representative and recent winner of a personal lawsuit against Gov J.B. Pritzker.

*** UPDATE *** I didn’t even think to check, but a commenter pointed out that Wilson contributed $3,000 each to Reps. Darren Bailey and Blaine Wilhour and House candidate Adam Niemerg (who’s running in Bailey’s district) this month.

  1. If Bailey is so pro-life, he should be leading the Black Lives Matter movement due in part to his pro-life logic.

    The Eastern Bloc ridiculousness is consistently about being a phony to an honest discussion and a need to find an out to have an overt racist way to be, or support this current president.

  3. You did make that up, right? You had to make that up.

  4. I would think this is a good thing. What on earth harm does it do to talk to anyone? It may end up no where, it probably will end up no where but what if it did?

  5. Wilson was passing out money to the Eastern Bloc before the meeting. https://www.elections.il.gov/CampaignDisclosure/ContributionSearchByAllContributions.aspx?ddlContributionType=dVqWfVfXtGbo2Q%2blNS2vueGUIMwvg67a&ddlState=oic7Hn5bdFg%3d&ddlFiledDateTime=oic7Hn5bdFg%3d&ddlFiledDateTimeThru=oic7Hn5bdFg%3d&txtLastOnlyName=8aPD6JfBqrD69VrEJ%2bLiMQ%3d%3d&ddlLastOnlyNameSearchType=anL9SDIfaKAiUwh%2fXw40AWySvimT6mHv&txtFirstName=E04PjnqESNpQDg65%2f61j7w%3d%3d&ddlFirstNameSearchType=anL9SDIfaKAiUwh%2fXw40AWySvimT6mHv&ddlVendorState=oic7Hn5bdFg%3d&T=637284273595422114

  7. Willie Wilson and the Eastern Bloc do have a lot in common - they are very interested in promoting themselves, and occasionally, conservative politics. If the ILGOP ever tires of the Bloc’s antics, perhaps they can defect to the newly-formed Willie Wilson Party, which Wilson announced he would be running under in hos next campaign, seeking the office of actually I stopped caring before I finished typing this sentence.

  8. I suspect they think that if they can change the conversation to being about reparations that they believe the impact would be less support among white folks for the BLM related protests and issues.

    But who knows what Wilson has planned for that meeting.

  9. O.K. With the update, I guess you’re not making this up,

  13. Whatever their motivations, good for Bailey and the others to agree to meet and listen. Not sure what Church and praying have to do with finding solutions, but if that helps these legislators find a path forward that leads to economic equality for Black Americans who’ve been shut out of our economy for so long, then my prayers will be answered too.

  18. 1st:

    Has something happened to the air we breathe or the water we drink?

    I swear, it’s like today is “through the looking glass”, “we’ve gone waaaaayyyy past opposite day, folks”, around here today.

    Not complaining (banned punctuation).

    Just trying to make sense of how the world seems to be spinning today.

  20. Secondly:

    I know of Lewiston (not in Beetle’s district)

    and

    Louisville (in Beetle’s district).

    But I don’t know of a “Lewisville” in Illinois. Is it in Lincoln County?

    And if “Lewisville” doesn’t exist, who wrote Beetle’s comments? How much are they being paid, and by whom?

    Comment by Lynn S. Monday, Jun 22, 20 @ 3:32 pm

  21. Politics makes strange bedfellows.

    Wealthy people looking to influence politicians who want to stay in office.

    What does willie want and how will beetle help him get it? Will we believe anything that comes out of beetle’s mouth that supports willie’s position?

    Comment by Huh? Monday, Jun 22, 20 @ 4:50 pm

    Please pardon all transcription errors.

  23. 8 hours roundtrip plus an hour meeting comes out to about $333 an hour for the $3,000 donation, factor in gas and and a little publicity it seems worthwhile
