* Devo is selling personal protective equipment…

Maybe you've heard of our new DEVO Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), which includes our trademark Energy Dome w/ Personal Protection Shield (PPS). Here's how it looks straight out of the box…with quick assembly.https://t.co/Cq6tGX81mX

More info here. I’m coming around to the idea of wearing a face shield. But I doubt I’ll get one made out of Devo’s “energy dome.”

Anyway, keep it Illinois-centric and be polite, please.

  1. Somehow I picture an 80’s music video developing here….

  3. Does it come with the red hat?

  4. Any more background on Senator Lightford’s move? Was her long standing issue with Senator Emil Jones? There definitely appeared to be bad blood there when the vote was taken, and Jones went with Harmon.

  5. ===When COVID comes around, you must whip it!===

Before a fever gets you down, you must whip it.

  6. I will have to call first on the day that I plan to get the test, but despite my questions Friday on whether COVID-19 testing should be offered to all state employees without referral, I’m going to go ahead and get it on my own next week. At the drive-thru testing site at the old Walgreen’s on 9th and North Grand in Springfield.

  7. All it’s missing is the little led light on top and Radio Shack emerges from the dead. No chin strap. No means to secure it. Hazard a guess …made in China? Mondays….sigh

  8. I’m not at the point of a face shield. Maybe just the energy dome without the shield? Probably enough to keep the covid away.

  9. The Darren Baileys of the world might choose a different DEVO song from the same album with Whip It: Freedom of Choice. /s

Ironically, the song is about death because you didn’t make a choice.

  11. I’m just going to dust off my tinfoil hat and add a shield…or maybe I’ll just stay home.

  12. ==When COVID comes around, you must whip it!==

The company selling the face shield (Impact Merchandising) is now selling a T-shirt with cartoon headshots of the members of the band Devo wearing the energy dome:

  13. Not sure what the face shield is for in everyday use. It protects heath care workers from things splashing on their face and potentially into their eyes. But for everyday use, what are you doing that you need a face shield?

That said, if the price is right, the energy dome might be worth the price. I would like to see protesters wearing the energy dome and singing selections from DEVO’s debut album which is a soundtrack for this spring…

=I’m in LaHood’s district. I don’t consider myself a hick. How about we please stop with name calling?=
The name calling bothers you? How many times have you called on Trump to stop?
I also live in LaHood’s district. He is the poster boy for empty shirt. Hasn’t had an original thought in his life. He is the Jim Ignatowski of congress.–

    @JSM from 12:26 Friday 5/15

No chance to respond Friday 5/15 because comments closed for weekend, but I respect your blog comments and think you’re owed a response to clarify a couple points. So so I’m posting that response here now.

Because wow, talk about jumping to conclusions — did you ever. Reminded me of the old artillery ditty: “Was it high? Was it low? Where the deuce did that one go?” You landed nowhere close to on target. About 180 degrees to the right, as a matter of fact. You’ll figure that out.

I ask to stop name calling and you immediately assume I’m a Trumpista and/or LaHood fan? Oh my goodness: absolutely priceless. Best laugh in quite a few days, so my thanks indeed. Truly.

    Stay well.

  15. ===for everyday use, what are you doing that you need a face shield?===

Easier to talk, stops more droplets, covers eyes (which can absorb the virus).

  16. Maybe we can bring back the Cone of Silence to maintain social distancing?

Comment by RNUG Monday, May 18, 20 @ 2:39 pm

  17. I’m pretty comfortable with my face covering and gloves. I could use a yellow tyvek suit though.

Comment by Proud Sucker Monday, May 18, 20 @ 3:59 pm

  18. Wouldn’t something similar to a beekeeper’s hat, with a facemask included, be just as effective, but more comfortable in summer heat, than the energy dome and face shield?

Comment by Chatham Resident Monday, May 18, 20 @ 4:10 pm

  19. A welder’s mask would serve the same purpose and may be useful post-pandemic if you take up welding. Plus a welder’s mask would be like auto shade sunglasses when you go outside.
