The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) today announced 3,239 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 138 additional deaths.
Coles County: 1 male 60s, 1 female 80s
Cook County: 4 males 30s, 1 female 40s, 2 males 40s, 3 females 50s, 10 males 50s, 4 females 60s, 13 males 60s, 4 females 70s, 10 males 70s, 1 unknown 70s, 9 females 80s, 15 males 80s, 11 females 90s, 1 female 100+
DuPage County: 2 males 70s, 3 females 80s, 3 females 90s
Jefferson County: 1 female 90s
Kane County: 1 male 30s, 1 female 60s, 1 male 70s, 1 male 80s, 2 females 90s
Kendall County: 2 females 80s
Lake County: 1 male 60s, 2 females 80s, 2 males 80s, 2 females 90s, 1 male 90s
Lee County: 1 male 50s
McHenry County: 1 female 60s
Sangamon County: 1 male 70s
St. Clair County: 1 male 50s, 1 male 80s

The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years. Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 22,678 specimens for a total of 512,037. The statewide 7-day rolling positivity rate is 17%

As of last night 4473 people are reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 1132 patients were in the ICU and 689 patients were on ventilators

Ridge, weekend reporting from hospitals, etc. is often incomplete.

There are lots of folks that have been in hospital for last few weeks and months.
And those numbers are added to daily.
So it is not unusal for spikes or drop offs if they hang on and get better or pass away later etc.
They can pass away at anytime or any day.

With a half million tests conducted statewide it brings to mind a question. If an individual has been tested more than once, and has been positive more than once, are our stats counting positive tests or positive persons. Are the stats detailed enough for that information?

To add to Rich’s comment, the state uses a 7-day running average. That smooths out the effect of weekend reports with relatively low counts. Any given 7-day period has the same impact from weekend reports.

The continued days of 100+ deaths is very depressing. That’s a lot of people to die and a much larger number of family and friends that are affected.

It stands to reason that the majority of deaths would be in the area with the majority of population. That’s Cook and the collar counties. Cook is probably the densest county in terms of people in confined spaces in the state. People may not be thinking of it in those terms because It doesn’t fit their open now narrative.
