5/26 - Have to pass a budget ahead of the 5/31 deadline to avoid needing a super majority and still get in the required number of reads.

Day after Memorial Day - May 26th. They will do the minimum required. This has been obvious for quite some time despite the efforts of some parties to pretend otherwise.

Correct me if I am mistaken, but while the state constitution does mandate when a session must start - second week in Jan - there is no specific constitutional deadline for them to adjourn their session in May.

Last week of May. Based on today’s US Supreme Court’s successful oral arguments via conference call I think we need to rethink what it means to “convene”.

The Abe Lincoln Hotel left me a messages saying my reservation was cancelled and they will resume operations on 5/24. Interesting but I doubt they have the inside scoop.

Wish to add that bills will be voted on in rapid fire fashion to minimize amount of time in session. As a result, numerous IGOP complaints of not having enough time to read bills, don’t know what is being voted on, rushed job, because of Madigan.

It looks like courts in Cook County will be back on a modified
schedule in June. Some courts will open but lawyers will appear remotely to begin to reschedule cases for discovery,
trial setting and ultimately trial dates. I doubt that jurors will be
back in 2020.

RUNG - BYOB. Liquor stores are still open. Hotel hospitality rooms solves closed bars. As long as noise kept down, none the wiser. Am sure hotels won’t rat out guests for not social distancing.

I agree with May 26. Hectic six day session and most people will be amazed at how fewer bills passed won’t be noticed, and the state won’t fall apart because some comma wasn’t removed from the statute.

Mama at 7:41, no the sate went without a budget for three years and had sham budgets for how many decades? Tell me on what days did the legislature delivered balanced budgets for Governor Rauner to sign.

It’s not just the 177 returning to work.
Staff, lobbyists, press, workers for the functioning of the building…
Lots of things to consider, June 1st (or thereafter) might be a target.

Arock is still harboring that fantasy that Rauner had any intention of signing any budget that did not coincide with Right to Work.
Dude, it’s been over a year, let it go.
By the by, those “sham” budgets did not more than double our backlog of bills like Rauner did.

I say, the week of May 16th. Now, my reason for that is, so they can get the bills done, then work on how they’ll campaign for the election. You guys may not like my theory, but I believe Madigan’s campain donation letter, kicked the door open to it.
