Gov. Cuomo’s brilliant gathering of the governors of 6 states including his own is what sent Trump over the edge. They acknowledge that not all parts of their states will have the same needs to open going forward. they are creating a task force of the COS of each governor, and the heads of the health and econ dev. dept of each state. smart. do we have regional needs for Illinois? there is a disadvantage because the governors of neighboring states are not all in the same party as is the case with the NE6, but the virus knows no borders, as many have said. makes a profound case for not having so many elected jurisdictions on a local basis.

Nobody forces restaurants to use GrubHub, et al. If the delivery services aren’t worth what they charge, don’t use them. FTR, I don’t get meals delivered using them because I see how much more I would spend using them vs carryout or just ordering from places with their own drivers.
Also, just because Trump says it’s safe to come out doesn’t mean much to me.

President Trump said he didn’t have the authority to do a nationwide order to shelter in place, said it was up to governors. (Most likely because he didn’t want to take the heat from his allies). Now, he says it’s up to him to open things back up, not the governors (most likely same reason). Can’t argue it both ways and be right both times.

Well if the tollway is low on cash maybe they can lay off the 21 people from CHA all making over 180,000 that they hired in the last year

Pritzker just said it’s up to him and not Trump to end the stay at home order. That’s very reassuring. Right now and the very near future are so critical for us. Being as stringent as possible today and complying with the order should give us a better chance to reopen as soon as possible.

So, I get it - supply chains, profits, etc. It’s just such a terrible waste.
“Shoppers” pick food off grocery store shelves and deliver it for a profit. Why can’t they pick lettuce and vegetables from the fields and do the same?
