* From the other day…

Experts say we may be as little as two days away from finally leaving the March Age. The next epoch is provisionally being called “April,” and is also expected to last 5-10 million years.

Ain’t that the truth.

As always, please be nice to each other and stick to Illinois topics. Thanks.

  1. Hard to imagine a worse March on almost every level.

  2. Look on the bright side. Observe how fortunate and blessed you are. Still have a job? You are lucky. Still getting paid? You are even luckier! Working from home and spending extra time with your children and significant others? You might be the luckiest! Help others. Be safe!

  3. Like Drudge’s comment.
    Particularly the “Help others” idea.

  4. While all the dire news and statistics were discussed at all levels of our state, I took some inspiration from the story, lesson, about the college student getting groceries for seniors here in Illinois. Yes, looking for the helpers.

Luckily here in Illinois there are more stories we all don’t know about, but are out there, that show how we here in Illinois are here for each other. That story helped me. We need good stories for our own thoughts. They are out there. Glad to hear them.

  5. Perhaps I’m spending too much time on fb. As I was scrolling through my fb page and as I saw all the Mayor Lightfoot memes, I saw a billboard in my mind with all these memes as background and REELECT MAYOR LIGHTFOOT in the foreground. Every time I see one of these memes, it brings a smile to my face.

  6. I’ve spent time talking to people who live down the block I’ve never chatted with before. Lots of conversations taking place from front porch to front porch and sidewalk to front porch.

  7. -Drudge-
You are quite right. I am paying it forward where I can. While my child is no longer going to in-home daycare, I am still voluntarily paying. Whenever I can get a haircut next the missed month will be added as a bonus tip. Any takeout is from local restaurants. Yes, they are small things, but I hope they can help the people who’s services I really on.

  8. I haven’t received official word from my supervisor yet, but I just saw Secretary White’s media release from this morning that all SOS offices are now closed until Apr. 30. In accordance with yesterday’s Stay-at-home order extension:

  9. Sports talk can be trite, but it’s been great watching highlights of the Blackhawks’ Stanley Cup runs. Seabrook’s OT goal to beat the “hated” Red Wings in Game 7 of the semi’s at the UC is one of the best.

  10. My 93 year old neighbor called to check on ME last evening. She has had some medical issues in the past but lives alone and is sharp as a tack. She is a survivor of the deprivations of the great depression and WWII rationing and sacrifices. She’s all in that she’s going to survive this, too. She is a little irked that people in her age group are being called “vulnerable”. Love this lady!

We decided that for the next month we’d flash our kitchen lights at each other at exactly 8:00 each night to say “hi” and that we made it through another day.

  11. Yesterday I was taking my garbage bins to the street, and turning back, I saw my neighbor and her children waving enthusiastically at me from their window, their dog barking excitedly. The first time I smiled this week.

  12. St Louis Post-Dispatch yesterday said Missouri’s road construction program may see delays. How much of the current Illinois program is funded with bonds, which should be less likely to be delayed?

  13. I like Drudge’s comment too. Remember, April Fools Day was replaced with April Foods Day and those places need your help/money more than ever.

I don’t like the stimulus checks are going to those that owe back taxes. Does anyone know if Revenue is trying to intercept if they owe Illinois taxes?

  14. Madigan has a chance for number one. This guy retired
After 64 years as a member of the Wisconsin legislature, Risser is the longest-serving legislator at the state or national level in United States history. He is also the only remaining World War II veteran serving in a state or national legislature.

  15. I’m with drudge. Every day I wake up is a good day. I disagree with Lurker. Those that owe back taxes and their families need to be fed, sheltered, and kept save no matter what their tax situation may be.

  16. “Epoch April” has a sense of profoundness to it.

  17. There is simply no way we can conduct an accurate census this year. Why not delay it for a year or two?
