Gov. Andrew Cuomo plans to take an epic trip to visit three or four of the states that have legalized cannabis, he told reporters in New York City on Thursday.
This trip is not the fulfillment of the governor’s tenth grade bucket list, however. Rather, the journey is to help him prepare for similar legislation in the state’s budget this year.
Cuomo said that he’ll be bringing his team to Massachusetts, Illinois and California or Colorado, “to meet with them, discuss what they’ve done, what’s worked, what hasn’t worked.

First find a dispensary with a decent recreational selection (if not flower, then oil or edible), then satisfy the munchies with one of Chicago’s/Illinois’ best, Lou Malnati’s pizza. After that, if it’s nice out, take a walk at the lakefront near Oak St. To enhance that, have a little more Illinois product.
What may be learned in Illinois is to quickly roll out recreational via the established medical dispensaries and to gear regulations toward satisfying consumers as quickly as possible. That may mean getting more cultivation centers. The most important thing to learn would be our social equity model, since we’re pioneers—though we haven’t rolled it out yet. Ideas can be had from that.

He should detour to N.H. and see how well the state owned liquor stores work in terms of the revenue they generate for important state services and the low prices they offer their customers .
Then he should return to New York and introduce legislation for a state owned and operated cannabis industry .
He can cancel his visits to the other states

When a politician as busy and ambitious as Cuomo is doing this type of research trip, I suspect they are just doing advance work for a presidential campaign. I could see him wanting to be a compromise candidate at the convention or a VP nominee. Based on that background, a trip to Springfield’s old state capitol and praising Lincoln’s House Divided Speech would be on my list.

Depends on whether it’s secretly for the money or more about legalization for the residents. Massachusetts, California and Colorado all allow homegrow. If their primary interest is cashing in on “the new industry” then Illinois is a great example. If it’s primarily for the people, apply the Illinois social equity portion to any of the other three examples and allow a token homegrow for responsible adults. Illinois set out to define a new Gold Standard but missed the mark on a couple key points, including homegrow and handing the entire thing to the “medical” supply chain. The only indication I’ve seen so far about re-introducing homegrow for healthy adult Illinoisans is that they don’t want to talk about it. I suggest reading the social equity legislation online but otherwise skip Illinois. Go straight to Colorado and for Pete’s sake, allow time for a show at Red Rocks.

It’a a munchie tour, of course. North suburbs it’s Walker Brothers Pancakes and Deerfield Bakery, Park Ridge edge it’s House of Cakes, Evanston it’s Blind Faith Cafe (where he will surely find stoners), all over the north side of Chicago and suburbs it’s Lou Malnati’s Pizza. He can come in the warm weather and go to Mario’s Italian Lemonade on Taylor street (I recommend the cantaloupe ice) on his way to the Rate where he can watch the Sox and get the best baseball food. Head to Palos Park on the way to SF and hit the ice cream at The Plush Horse. and when in the Patch, find the latest open place to get a horseshoe. no Governor, you can’t get the pony shoe.

Hard to add talking to our “Cannabis Czar” when you can’t get a phone number or contact information for her or her office.
Good luck getting anyone in the gov’s office to provide information about her work other than getting an email address and being told someone may reach out to you after you email the address (no name to send it to just an address).

The only state Cuomo needs to visit is Sinaloa. There he will find out all he needs to know about the drug business.

This is a difficult question and I’m trying to put aside my abject fear of the guy:
‘Colorado, go to Antonito and stop by the dispensary next door to the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad station, then enjoy the train ride to Cumbres NM. The train zig-zags across the border for some time (legal/illegal etc. but everything looks the same) in stunning scenery, and perhaps his contemplation of the exercise will help him to realize the silliness and waste of continued Cannabis prohibition. I believe the great outdoors, would do him some good too.
If he’s not into it, I’d be delighted to go again myself.

Go to the courthouse where each cultivation center and dispensary sits and pull the court files. You will find the problems, and the folks who figued out the right way to do it.
