Oberweis mail mystery solved?

Posted in:

* We discussed a couple of similar-looking mailers on Friday. One was from the New Prosperity Foundation, which is headed by Jim Gidwitz and Greg Baise…

The other was sent by Congressional candidate Ted Gradel…

* Cal Skinner at the McHenry County Blog did a bit of snooping and discovered that the two largest contributions to the New Prosperity Foundation were from a guy named Thomas Mazza, totaling $150,000.

Thomas and Sue Mazza have also given $5,600 each to Ted Gradel’s campaign.

…Adding… From comments…

  2. It wasn’t Ken Dunkin’s patrons after all.

The battle to move 25+ points on a person like Oberweis won’t be won in the mailboxes; it will be won on the ground, and will need constant and overwhelming air support, as in TV air support.

This is either “money thrown in the fireplace” or a much deeper plan to move the numbers in big chunks.

We’ll see if there’s “buyer’s remorse” from his boss after March 17th.

  4. “Hi‼ I played football 33 years ago‼”

I guess that’s one way to run for Congress.

  7. For a $150K donation, Ted Gradel must be a helluva an employee.

  8. OW: There is no way a Congressional race can move 25 points in the field. The field will help but won’t matter if he has constant media i.e. TV/Radio/Digital. I’ve moved races with media alone.

  9. === There is no way a Congressional race can move 25 points in the field.===

    Hmm. Could be why I also wrote this;

=== This is either “money thrown in the fireplace” or a much deeper plan to move the numbers in big chunks.===

Narrator: He bet on “money thrown in the fireplace.

The last plan I heard for these folks against Oberweis consisted of “hope”

Before we go too far, I states then, and now, “hope” is not a plan.
