  25. PBS special on coyotes recently was interesting. City coyotes live longer than country coyotes. Heck even when a coyote goes swimming when it shouldn’t taxpayers will pay to rescue it in the City.   29. Used to live at Division/Clybourn until 2016 before moving to the NW side. Used to walk with a baseball bat while walking my Westie at night. They would stalk/follow us on occasion. Other than that, if I were solo they’re fine since they’re harmless to humans.

  42. I’ll never forget calling the cops because a coyote nonchalantly walked past me on a busy Lakeview sidewalk and I was worried about kids/dogs/etc.

    The reply: “Uh sir, they have as much of right as squirrels to go where they want. We don’t do coyotes.”

    I watched him use a pedestrian crossing and wait for traffic to pass and carry on his way.

    Chicago urban coyotes are endlessly fascinating to this dork.

    I remember when they “did” mountain lions. The cops shot up Roscoe Village, causing more damage than the puma ever could, and scared the daylights out of this poor family.

  46. A coyote (carnivorous vulgaris) is spotted staring down an Acme delivery van on Chicago’s near North Side on Tuesday. Police confiscated an Acme “Easy Pardon” kit being shipped to a Colorado address that had fallen off the back of the van, but could not catch the driver, a feathered fellow (accelerati incredibilus) to issue a ticket.

  57. The coyotes are definitely around and about. Usually the coyotes like to work in proximity to a waterway (creek, river, canal). My biggest shock was to see deer walking down a residential street somewhat removed from a park or forest preserve.
