  1. (Full disclosure, I only lived in the Chicago area a short time.) Clearly #1.

Comment by Skeptic Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 9:07 am

  2. 1 is the best and it’s not a contest. I will grant you that I am not from Chicago so I’m not really the targeted survey group.

Comment by Perrid Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 9:07 am

  3. The piece with the sausage on it.

    Comment by 47th Ward Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 9:11 am

  4. Sorry, now I see it. #1.

    Comment by 47th Ward Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 9:12 am

  5. 1, it’s the filet mignon cut of the pizza.

Comment by ChicagoVinny Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 9:12 am

  6. #3. Edge + real content.

Comment by Keyrock Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 9:13 am

  7. Actual Chicagoan here. It’s 1, 3, 4, 2.

    Comment by Cheryl44 Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 9:16 am

  8. Directly to the left of #2. And throw some giardiniera on there already, for goodness sakes.

    Comment by Anon312 Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 9:16 am

  9. I start with a corner piece like 1 to tide me over while filling my plate with the likes of 3.

Comment by Ron Burgundy Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 9:17 am

  10. John Amdor, as only John Amdor can, really broke down the pizza slice choice, well worth your Twitter-time amusement.

    I rank them 3, 1, 2, 4.

I feel 3 is the best of all worlds, the 3 is being used to disguise its greatness.

Comment by Oswego Willy Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 9:18 am

  11. Who picks one piece at a time? I’d pick the strip from #2 to the top or to the left side.

Comment by Pot calling kettle Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 9:22 am

  12. Where do you find a place that puts sausage on 1/4 of a pie? #1.

Comment by bogey golfer Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 9:22 am

  13. 1,3,4,2.

I’m a Chicagoan, born and bred.

Comment by JoanP Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 9:23 am

  14. I like starting on an edge before moving to the yummy middle pieces, so I’d start with #3, I’m not a fan of sausage, so #1 is out. Pepperoni, on the other hand, is the food of the gods.

Comment by Bourbon Street Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 9:23 am

  15. #1
Sausage is hit or miss with me. I like sweet/seasoned sausage, not gamey. If it’s good, it’s great.

Comment by Grandson of Man Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 9:23 am

  16. #1. Of course.

Comment by anonomoose Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 9:24 am

  17. 1 for me. And with some luck the adjoining piece wasn’t cut through so I’ll take it too, to avoid making a mess.

Comment by XonXoff Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 9:24 am

  18. My first plate usually consists of 1 of each. Order I eat them in is 1,2,4,3. But 3 is my favorite piece

    Comment by tavern-style Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 9:25 am

  19. I’m a Chicagoan and prefer super thin crust. #1 for sure and agree with Cheryl44 on the order. If it’s a slightly thicker thin crust I usually go for a middle piece. Now I’m hungry.

Comment by Because I said so.... Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 9:25 am

  20. 1 is the right answer for the first piece, but only so you can get an opening to 2 and it’s brothers, which are the superior pieces of any pizza

Comment by Joe Bidenopolous Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 9:25 am

  21. 1, of course.

Chicagoans: if you ever find yourselves in Springfield and want this kind of pizza, Gabatoni’s is the place to go. You’ll think you died and went to heaven.

On East Laurel, by the railroad tracks.

Comment by Nick Name Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 9:26 am

  22. Born & raised in Chicago (in the city, not surrounding burbs)
    2, 1 then, if absolutely necessary, 3, 4.

Comment by Mjolnir Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 9:29 am

  23. Start at 1, eat way to 2. Leave the rest. No need to waste time on a pizza that doesn’t have sausage.

Comment by Huh? Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 9:44 am

  24. 1) My first piece would be the entire vertical column containing #4. And because it is cheese only, ain’t nobody gonna squawk about it.

After that, it’s outermost pieces, then working my way to the middle in a crispy-to-greasy death-spiral.

    2) Aurilio’s, thin crust, fiesta, sausage & mushroom.

Ready for pick-up in 25 minutes.

  25. ==Sorry, now I see it. #1.==

The piece immediately south of #1

    Comment by A Guy Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 9:54 am

  26. To the question #3.

After living in FL for a few years now one of my few complaints is that we can’t seem to get a good pizza. A friend gave me a few Lou Malnati’s the other day. Have to say I forgot just how great Chicago pizza really is. New York / New Jersey can’t hold a candle to it as far as I am concerned.

Comment by Stones Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 9:56 am

  27. Lou Malnati’s lasagna is world class. Also, if I have out of town guests who *have* to eat deep dish, that’s where we go.

    Comment by Cheryl44 Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 10:11 am

  28. Of the choices on the picture - 3, 4, 2, 1. Normally, I’d start with a piece like 3 and move down to other slices like 3 and then up for a couple of 2’s, ending with a 4 or 1 depending on whether my dinner companions left anything.

Comment by Norseman Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 10:27 am

  29. #4, the taster slice, the tenderloin of the pizza.

The bigger issue here is that this pizza isn’t properly dressed. Gotta have sausage, mushrooms, & peppers on it. Cheese pizza is for children who don’t know any better. This pizza makes me sad, like showing up to a wedding and finding out its a cash bar.

Comment by Just Another Anon Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 10:56 am

  30. What kind of monster picks #2?

    Comment by K3 Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 10:58 am

  31. I’ll just have the entire left side. Hope nobody else is too hungry.

Comment by Ducky LaMoore Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 11:07 am

  32. ===a crispy-to-greasy death-spiral.===

Gotta be one of the world’s top five gastronomic experiences.

    Restaurant quality.

Comment by Skeptic Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 11:34 am

  34. #1 on my way to #2, #3, then #4 if I’m desperate.

As a born & bred Chicagoan, I cringe when my wife and kids ‘pre-blot’ the grease with a paper napkin.

Comment by Jocko Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 11:37 am

  35. I want 2 but I won’t be that guy. I’m waiting until someone grabs 1 and then I’m taking the two adjoining non-edge pieces, putting some ranch dressing on it, and folding it like a sandwich so my fingers don’t get completely greasy.

Comment by Proud Papa Bear Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 11:42 am

  36. Edge piece, of course. You need a knife and fork for those floppy inner ones.

Comment by Fav human Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 11:54 am

  37. 4. I like those crunchy pieces.

Comment by Rich Miller Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 12:24 pm

  38. -Jocko- yeah! i’m always thinking “how much good can it do, the rest is fat anyway!” what a waste of napkins.

Comment by NoGifts Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 12:38 pm

  39. #1 first. It is the quick snack while loading up your plate with the other pieces.

Comment by Gladhander Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 12:44 pm

  40. “You need a knife and fork for those floppy inner ones.”

What heathen eats pizza with a knife and fork?

Comment by Huh? Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 12:57 pm

  41. You gotta choose only if you’re gonna share, and who says I’m sharing?

Comment by Flapdoodle Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 1:20 pm

  42. #1 is the only correct answer.

Comment by Notorious RBG Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 3:28 pm

  43. What number do I use if I just roll up the pizza and eat the whole thing?

    Comment by Harvest76 Tuesday, Jan 7, 20 @ 3:41 pm

  44. Love the Chicago tavern cut of that Pie!
