A few weeks ago Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot announced a hiring freeze. Yesterday it’s announced that former Alderman John Arena has a new job with the city. Nothing changes.

Illinois is another month closer to marijuana legalization. There should and probably will be New Year’s Eve events that will bring the new year in on a high note.

Funny reference. One of our dogs opens the door to her kennel by herself and self-imprisons when she’s caught being naughty. I keep telling my family we should change her name to Otis.

Can someone please make sure Wonderboy Whitman has adult supervision when hiring the next Illini football coach? Whitman’s judgement can’t be trusted and we don’t need another overpaid, washed up, out-of-work hire.

For the Springfield members, what do you think of Mayor Langfelder’s upsetting the apple cart on the proposed new homeless shelter?
Maybe it isn’t perfect, but it was going to be a big improvement over the existing situation.
Seems like he is trying to be liked by everyone and won’t take any flsk for his actions. That’s the second or third thing he has torpedoed deals his staff set up at the last minute. I don’t care who else is running, but I won’t be voting for him next time …

After watching the debate on the homeless shelter, it appears to me my fellow citizens of Springfield want the new homeless shelter located in the middle of a 20 acre field with a 20 ft wall around it with armed guards posted to keep “those people” in their place.

Does anyone know when they shrunk toilet paper ? While “studying” a role I thought something didn’t look right. Checking the package it said 3.92″ wide. I was sure it used to be 4 something. Took quite a bit of looking in Target to find 4.27″ wide package. We are doomed…

RNUG, appreciate your sentiments but the City Council acts so helpless. As a long time follower of City Hall I am amazed at the Council’s collective laziness.
They are motivated by their extreme dislike of the Mayor. They are so beholding to organized labor’s contributions that good government is seldom their top priority.
Half think they can be mayor but only if Mayor Langfelder is damaged goods politically.

In sitting at O’Hare waiting to board the first of 3 planes I’ll be in today. It’s a wee thing, but it’s only taking me to Decatur, so that’s not a surprise. It’s freezing in here and I forgot a sweater.
