*** UPDATED x1 *** Lightfoot comms director out after just 88 days

Posted in:

* This early exit is highly unusual…

My mistake not correct quote “first African American FEMALE mayor”

— Mary Ann Ahern (@MaryAnnAhernNBC) August 15, 2019

Lots of internal turmoil in that office.

*** UPDATE *** With a hat tip to a subscriber, this is from October 6, 2017

After just 88 days in Gov. Bruce Rauner’s administration, former Illinois Policy Institute head Kristina Rasmussen is out as the governor’s chief of staff — leaving a job she said she knew would be “rife with promise but would come with a lot of turbulence.”

Needless to say, this is not the path the mayor wants to be following.

  7. This would be Exhibit “A” as to why this person failed as Comms Director.

  8. Just more proof that Mayor Lightfoot’s reign has been a disorganized mess so far.

Comment by Stroger for Circuit Clerk Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 10:14 am

  9. Is it possible Mary Ann Ahern incorrectly reported the quote about Lightfoot being the first AA mayor? Just a possibility as I haven’t seen the original source.

  10. An amazing 88 days? Talk about damning with faint praise.

We all can love ya and the work ya do.

Weird none of the Chicago press seems to want to write about it and we are hearing that on Capitolfax.

They need to take off their rose-colored glasses.

  17. Btw-Ahern corrected her tweet and she was misquoted. She said first FEMALE African American mayor. I think it’s like Rich said—probably due to turmoil.

Excellent point, those on the far right should take note that capfax is leading the critique of the new Chicago mayor. Because it is warranted.

  21. This may be the best for both of them. I was fairly impressed with the comms and appearances Lori put out for her campaign but have not been so impressed with much of her comms output since being elected. You just never know.

  22. The officer is not always, if ever, going to take counsel, but they should at least listen. That is the most staff should hope for.

  23. Lightfoot needs better people tbh. She needs seasoned troops.

  26. wow, want more info, Rich. I’d rate Lightfoot more highly so far than is being discussed here.

  27. When you quote anyone…it’s important to include all of the words?…as in what happened to proof…reading…twice or more.

  28. I guess the video with no audio at the ILDCCA brunch was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

    Comment by MG85 Thursday, Aug 15, 19 @ 3:18 pm

  29. As Rich said it sounds like there’s lots of turmoil in that office and given its filled with a lot of folks who haven’t worked at that level before it’s not entirely surprising. Like Interested said, she needs seasoned troops.
