Addressing speculation on a bid for the U.S. 14th Congressional District, State Rep. Allen Skillicorn said in a statement if it means running for another position for Illinois families to have a voice and not a special interest to represent them, so be it.
The 14th district is currently represented by Democrat Lauren Underwood, who unseated Republican Randy Hultgren in November.
“I am 100 percent focused on saving Illinois from high taxes, a restrictive economic policies and Obamacare’s high costs that hurt all Illinoisans,” Skillicorn, R-East Dundee, said. “I will fight for Illinoisans in the state Capitol, Main Street, on farms and even Washington D.C.”
Skillicorn, who said the statement was something he wanted to make for any future releases, said he is listening to Illinois families in the counties of Lake, McHenry, Kane, DeKalb, Kendall, DuPage and Will – all of which make up the 14th Congressional District.

There were challengers to her announcing their run the same day she was sworn in.
It doesn’t take a rocket surgeon to figure out their motivations.
Skillicorn is just trolling. Just like when he offered to ‘bet’ $1000 that the repeal of net neutrality would lead to massive savings on internet access.

I’m sure Rep. Bustos and the DCCC would love a Trump/Skillicorn ticket in defending Underwood’s seat.
Is it too much to ask for a Skillicorn/Oberweis primary?

Hopefully Matt Quigley will prove himself someone to rally behind because if Skillicorn or Oberweis wins the primary, Underwood wouldn’t even need to pretend to be a practicing nurse to win.

I still find the district too unwieldy. Antioch to Yorkville all in one district (but carving out certain western suburbs along the way). I guess it is better than the old 14th that stretched nearly to Iowa.

Not every nurse has patients. Some nursing jobs involve research or administrative duties. But it’s moot. She has a different career now.
