Good morning!

Posted in:

* Today’s song wasn’t intended by the late songwriter Mark Linkous (Sparklehorse) to be about this topic, but art is universal and it touched me deeply, so I’d like to send it out to everyone who is either enduring cancer and everything that goes with it or loves someone who is

Sometimes I get so sad
Sometimes you just make me mad

It’s a sad and beautiful world
It’s a sad and beautiful world

Sometimes I just won’t go
Sometimes I just won’t say ‘no’

It’s a sad and beautiful world
It’s a sad and beautiful world

Sometimes days go speeding past
Sometimes this one seems like the last

It’s a sad and beautiful world
It’s a sad and beautiful world

Ms. Staples will be at the Chicago Theatre in January.

* How’s your life?

  1. I could complain, but I really have no right.

  2. Admittedly having an incredibly rough time feeling hopeful with everything going on. I have friends who have been deported and my trans friends and family are constantly terrified and my grocery budget increasingly can’t keep up. Wish the world felt sad and beautiful more often instead of just sad.

  3. Great song.

= so I’d like to send it out to everyone who is either enduring cancer and everything that goes with it or loves someone=

Put me in the “loves somebody who is” category. It isn’t going well and I am trying to keep it together.

    Thanks brother.

  4. It’ll be pretty good around 3pm on Saturday when Illinois beats Ohio State.

  5. I looked at her tour. She’s at the Ryman in January.

Sometimes it’s lonely at 40,000 ft, but the view and the sunshine are great.

Prayers for all who are hurting, and hopes that they may also enjoy a good view and a warm ray of sun for a few minutes today.

  6. OK, who is responsible for the fire alarm in the Capitol presently?

I just got emails, texts, and calls from the SOS Regroup system and I’m in another Complex building.

    Thanks for the earworm.

According to Shaw, DeKalb Police confirmed ICE activity near Walmart yesterday, but otherwise had no details. DeKalb Rapid Response Team, a group of volunteers, was kept busy during the earlier half of the day verifying and documenting ICE sightings. They’re saying two people were taken, one of them walking a few blocks from NIU campus on their way to work, the other one (indeed near Walmart) taken from their car. A third person was almost taken from a gas station (also not far from Walmart) and was described as handled roughly, but let go when proven to be a citizen. There were several false alarms.

  8. @JSMills. Sorry for whatever your family is going through. I value your knowledge and posts. You are one of the posters that I want to read and always do. During Covid you made a positive difference for my family and making decisions. I wish you well and the strength and resilience to deal with this as it changed your life. You are in my thoughts. Take care.

  9. All pretty good in the 309. Our bi-monthly rain storm will down the dust and limit field fires. Ight even green up golf courses.
Song was very good, but slightly downer. Hopefully Cubs perform today so sometimes suicidal Cubs fans don’t try to use their “W” flags to hang themselves or throw themselves in front of Trump tear gas balls.

  10. Today’s question: If the Cubs lose today are they required to leave the L flag up all winter??

  11. I love my grandkids, but I already have the kiddie virus from hell.
    Ugh!

  12. JSMills, I hope things go well for you and your family. I also make it a point to read your comments. I value your perspective. Blessings and healing to you and yours.

  13. I’m angry by things going on in my city and world. I’m dealing with it by avoiding social media and the news. I’m learning Greek and Czech just for the heck of it.
