If he’s going to run for Senate, Kevin D. Ryan needs to immediately make a statement on whether or not he is related to George or Jack Ryan. Before his opponents reach to the old Blago playbook and use his last name against him (see Ryan, Jim).

Saw somebody propose that Anthony Rizzo’s future Cubs statue be him with his arms in the air after securing the final World Series out in his glove. Sounds good to me. Hope he has a very wonderful retirement.

No games from JB over the Bears and their demand for “tax certainty” at Arlington Park. I’m sure we’ll get some vague insult about tower cranes in response.

Evacuated from the Capitol 24 years ago this morning — every year on this day, I think of the stellar SoS Police who guided us out… I spent the remainder of that day @OakRidgeCemetery, on a blanket in the shade, near a Civil War-era plate… today, I’m reflecting upon how much I wish I could go back there to seemingly escape from all this madness in the news feeds… while we cannot ‘rewind’ we can certainly commit to ‘be kind’ can’t we?!

It was a gorgeous night in Chicago yesterday. Music of the Baroque was playing Handel et al. on a boat on the river, hundreds listening (and joining in on the Hallelujah Chorus) on the Riverwalk and the bridges - but we’re a hellhole.

Summer temps return to the 60827, while the Bears continue to ask for taxpayer subsidies by other names but the team looks rickety losing first game.

On 9/11 they sent us home from JRTC around 11am. Suburban trains were crowded and followed no regular schedule. No one collected tickets. People were unusually quiet on the train. A couple of people listening to radios, but there was no real news to report.
The agency timekeepers took a few days to figure out what code to use to account for leaving work early under a terrorist threat.

Yay, equalization factors were published yesterday for most of Kankakee County. Another year, another 13.5% increase for Kankakee Township residential owners. Meanwhile commercial/industrial owners get a tax reduction their assessments never change so residents have to pick up an even bigger part of the tax levy.
