With the deployment of so many National Guard units from southern states (Texas, Missouri, etc.) to urban areas outside those states, one has to wonder what will happen when inevitable Fall season natural disasters occur in those states. Hurricane season has just arrived, and the changing weather from summer to fall will lead to more tornadoes (not to mention wild fires).

Should the State get involved in the whole downtown Springfield Wyndham mess? And see if CDB and/or Architect of the Capitol could perform the same magic they’re doing on the old Armory to try to salvage the Wyndham? With a plan of renovating the building for a mix of state offices, conference rooms, apartments (with high-level state officials and employees e.g., GA members or agency directors getting first dibs on them), and the rest for a smaller-scale hotel geared toward conference attendee settings.
