So, where’s the party?

Tuesday, Dec 9, 2008

* I’m in Springfield, and was thinking we should all gather for Fitzmas tonight. Besides, I’m gonna need a drink.

How about the Alamo?

* Chicagoans can use this opportunity to talk about the location of their own Fitzmas gathering.

    Rich,

When is your annual official Capitol Fax soiree?

And me thinks that your accountant might join you for a few celebratory drinks tonight- the trial will certainly help your subscription and ad revenue! :) Alas, I won’t be able to join you. I have to go home to start destroying my “Blago in 16″ T-shirts and bumper stickers.

And as others have mentioned, great job today, as always. You’ll be exhausted, but man is today worth it.

  24. - David Starrett - Tuesday, Dec 9, 08 @ 3:43 pm:

    OK.

  25. - Speaking at Will - Tuesday, Dec 9, 08 @ 3:46 pm:

For everyone in Southern Illinois. I will be hosting a Fitzmas Party at Tres Ambres in Carbondale around 7pm.

Mention you saw this post on Cap Fax, and your first draft is on me. There might even be a poetry reading from the works of Vanilla man and others!

    The MO it is.

  27. - It's 5 O'clock somewhere - Tuesday, Dec 9, 08 @ 4:07 pm:

  28. - A Fan - Tuesday, Dec 9, 08 @ 4:26 pm:

Great job today, Rich. What’s been the load on your servers? Crushed? Response seems unusually slow.

  29. - Peggy - Tuesday, Dec 9, 08 @ 4:43 pm:

We in STL Metro area are cheering for this early Fitzmas present! I’m a SAHM with little ones. I won’t be going further than my local supermarket, especially if the ice cometh tonight.

Happy Fitzmas to all and to all a good night!

I would love to celebrate with everyone, but the flu picked a really inopportune time to strike. Arg, and those shots were free.

  33. - Chanahan Man - Tuesday, Dec 9, 08 @ 5:25 pm:

where’s the party in the suburbs?

  34. - Sinequanon - Tuesday, Dec 9, 08 @ 5:28 pm:

The fam is keeping me at home tonight, or I would be there with pint in each hand–one for you, Rich, of course. Good job sourcing info before so many, if not all, others. How to catch up with you for real in the coming weeks. Do you have a fav single malt?

  35. - David Starrett - Tuesday, Dec 9, 08 @ 5:30 pm:

    Rich:
    Still going to the Alamo?

  36. - Rich Miller - Tuesday, Dec 9, 08 @ 5:50 pm:

    Yes. Running late.

  37. - Bill - Tuesday, Dec 9, 08 @ 6:05 pm:

I sure hope as a state employee that we can do away with Rod Corruptovich’s worthless ethics test. Maybe the clown should have taken the test himself.

  38. - Sinequanon - Tuesday, Dec 9, 08 @ 6:42 pm:

I agree with Bill. The ethics test, which isn’t a test but an atestation, is of very little value even to the less tested newbies that have come to be employed by the State as political appointments and rewards.

  39. - wordslinger - Tuesday, Dec 9, 08 @ 7:12 pm:

    Rich, awesome job today.

I had an appointment this afternoon in the Board of Trade Building. Afterwards, I retired to The Last Great Dive in the Loop, the Skyride Tap, on Van Buren just north of Clark. . It’s always full of ironworkers and construction types (not so many in this economy), traders and feds.

After a few Buds, my anger magically turned to optimism. Everyone said this is a sad day for Illinois. No sir. A great day for Illinois. Justice is being done. Never again can you hide behind the office.

We’ve produced Blago, Ryan, Kerner and Paul Powell. We’ve also produced Lincoln, Paul Simon, Paul Douglas, Bob Michel, etc. No shame here.

As the late great Studs said, we’re like Janus. Two sides to the coin.

  40. - Wickedred - Tuesday, Dec 9, 08 @ 7:23 pm:

I’m glad I’m not the only one who wants to do away with the annual Ethics test!

Man, I wish I could be at the Alamo. I love that bar. But I’m snowed in up north. I’ll find my local pub in my 4 wheel drive and raise a brew tonite for Rich.. and the downfall of Rod.

  41. - Lynn S - Tuesday, Dec 9, 08 @ 8:57 pm:

I had a PTA meeting tonight; sorry I’m missing the party in Springpatch!! Will check with my local political blog and see if we’re doing anything for Fitzmas here in Chambana.

Thanks to Rich and Kevin and everyone else here–it’s been a fun and interesting day, and I’m looking forward to tomorrow!!

  42. - Chicago Cynic - Tuesday, Dec 9, 08 @ 9:58 pm:

We had our Fitmas party at the annual Winston and Strawn holiday party. It was a blast!

  43. - Sandy - Tuesday, Dec 9, 08 @ 11:17 pm:

I know you may have gone to the Alamo but you must tell everone where you ended up– “Saputos” Thanks!!!
